(July 17, 2016) –
SASKATOON, SK - On Saturday July 17, development agency World Vision hosted a BBQ in Saskatoon to celebrate the difference the people of Saskatchewan are making across the globe. The free event was manned by volunteers, and was a chance to highlight the generosity of people of Saskatchewan, many of whom advocate for and help some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
As an international aid and development agency, World Vision has seen firsthand the generosity of Saskatchewan residents, and their hearts to respond to global issues. The overwhelming generosity is evident in their response to international emergencies, and their ongoing efforts to help children. Currently more than 11,500 residents of the province sponsor a child with World Vision, and in so doing fight poverty in communities around the globe.
The BBQ took place over lunchtime by Michael’s Independent Grocers on Wanuskewin Rd. It was a fun day attended by a full crowd. Even Saskatoon’s Mayor Atchison took a turn at the grill.
They were also able to raise money to support World Vision’s clean water work.
The event was part of the Campaign for Children taking place in Saskatchewan over the summer months. Area residents may hear and see more about World Vision, and door-to-door representatives will be in communities across the province to answer questions about World Vision and provide the opportunity for area residents to sponsor a child and change a community.
